Truck Mounted Crane FAQ
Get practical answers about capacity, working radius, load charts, boom types, mounting, safety, maintenance, ordering—and how our team supports you from consultation to lifetime service.
General
We can supply complete truck solutions (crane + chassis) for ready-to-work delivery. We also supply the crane unit only if you plan to mount it on your existing truck.
Send (1) load weight, (2) working radius, (3) lift height, plus a short description of your jobsite space/obstacles. With these, we can recommend a suitable model and send the correct load chart.
Construction lifting, logistics unloading, utilities installation, municipal maintenance, forestry support, and recovery work.
Yes. Our specialists first confirm your usage scenario and constraints, then propose a configuration that balances performance and cost-effectiveness.

Capacity & Working Radius
Rated tonnage is the theoretical maximum under specified conditions (typically short radius and specified outrigger setup). Actual lifting capacity depends on working radius, boom extension, boom angle, outriggers, and ground condition.
Because the real working radius is longer than assumed, and capacity drops as radius increases. Always confirm load + radius + configuration using the model-specific load chart.
Measure from the truck centerline to the load’s center of gravity at the typical lift position. Use the typical radius (what you lift at most often), not only the maximum.
Load charts typically show allowable load under stated conditions. You should subtract the weight of hook block + slings + shackles + any attachments (grabs/clamps).
Yes. Share your load + working radius + lift height, and we’ll send the correct chart and a suitable configuration suggestion.

Boom Types
Choose knuckle boom for tight spaces, obstacle lifting, and frequent multi-stop delivery. Choose straight boom for direct long outreach and open job sites.
Straight boom often provides simpler direct outreach. But reach without capacity is meaningless—confirm capacity at your actual radius using the load chart.
Knuckle booms are often faster in tight sites because the joints allow quick angle changes without repositioning the truck as often.
Straight booms are usually simpler structurally. Knuckle booms have more joints and cylinders—regular lubrication and inspection keep them reliable.
Outriggers & Installation
Outriggers create the stability base. Wider spread and proper ground support generally improve stability and usable capacity at working radius.
Partial extension is used when space is limited, but capacity is reduced. Always follow the load chart for the specific outrigger condition.
Use pads on soft soil, uneven ground, or hot asphalt to reduce sink risk and help keep the truck level.
Yes. Provide chassis info (GVW, axle configuration, frame width, mounting length, rear overhang). We’ll confirm compatibility and provide mounting guidance.
Ignoring axle load distribution and available mounting space. A crane can fit physically but overload an axle or violate regulations—confirm chassis match before ordering.
Full-Service Support From Consultation to Lifetime Use
- Pre-sales: Our specialists connect from the first inquiry to understand your usage scenario and recommend the most cost-effective personalized solution.
- During production: A dedicated coordinator tracks your order and helps ensure configuration requirements are implemented correctly.
- After-sales: We provide full lifecycle engineer guidance for operation, maintenance planning, and troubleshooting—plus sufficient spare parts support and timely response.
- On-site support (if needed): We can arrange professional engineers for on-site installation and guidance, depending on project conditions.
Operation & Safety
For tight sites, obstacle lifting, or frequent delivery jobs, remote control improves positioning speed and allows operators to stand at a safer distance.
Common causes include wrong radius assumption, rigging weight not counted, partial outrigger use, uneven ground, or sudden dynamic movement. The fix is proper setup + reading the correct load chart.
Not recommended. Even small tilt reduces stability and real capacity. Always level the truck and use pads if needed.
Outrigger setup and ground firmness, hydraulic leaks/hose wear, pins/bolts and visible cracks, control function and emergency stop, and rigging condition.
Maintenance & Spare Parts
Regular lubrication, hydraulic oil/filters, bolt/pin inspection, cylinder seals, and wear parts. Good lubrication habits prevent downtime.
It depends on working intensity and environment (dust/heat). Tell us your working hours/day and conditions—we’ll suggest a practical schedule.
Yes. We maintain sufficient spare parts supply and can recommend a starter spare parts package based on your model and working intensity.
Send model + serial info + photos/videos of the issue (if applicable). This reduces mismatch and speeds up response and shipment.
Ordering & Shipping
Load + radius + height, boom type preference, required options (remote control, oil cooler), chassis details (if mounting), destination and preferred Incoterms.
Typically model, configuration/options list, packing method, documentation (as applicable), and delivery terms (Incoterms). Scope is confirmed in the proforma invoice.
EXW / FOB / CIF are common. Provide destination port/city and we’ll quote accordingly.
Boom type, option complexity, and production scheduling. Tell us your target delivery date and destination for an accurate plan.
Warranty & Service
We provide pre-sales, in-production, and after-sales full-process support. After delivery, we offer full lifecycle engineer guidance covering operation, maintenance planning, and troubleshooting.
We prioritize timely response to help keep your equipment running. Share your model/serial info and issue details (photos/videos), and our engineers will guide diagnosis and next steps efficiently.
If required, we can arrange professional engineers for on-site installation and guidance, depending on project location and conditions.
Yes. Common customization includes boom length/sections, control method, outrigger setup, accessory kits, and environment kits (heat/corrosion protection).
